FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 14, 2017

 

Storms and flooding

 

Crystal Lake – The City experienced a high volume of rain in a short time period with this afternoon’s storm. Approximately 2.5 inches of rain fell within an hour causing temporary road closures due to flooding throughout the City. Numerous trees and tree limbs were reported down in roadways and were cleared by Public Works crews. Two houses sustained minor damage from trees and limbs. No injuries were noted due to this afternoon’s storms. Commonwealth Edison crews have been dispatched and are addressing downed wires in the area. Public Works crews will continue to address the flooding and downed trees as they are reported. At the time of this press release, the only road closure noted is at Three Oaks Road between Route 31 and Lutter Drive while a power line is repaired. Crews will be working through the day Thursday, June 15th to clear any remaining downed trees or limbs.
