Outdoor Warning Siren Activation

Crystal Lake – This morning shortly after 6:40 AM, the City of Crystal Lake Outdoor Public Warning Sirens activated in error. After investigation, it was determined that a vendor on site in the regional dispatch center, Southeast Emergency Communications (SEECOM) was installing new radio consoles. During the installation, the vendor experienced a short in a wire. This short simulated an activation on the system setting the sirens off for the community. Once made aware of the situation, the vendor immediately reversed the issue silencing the system.

SEECOM is working with the vendor to ensure no additional false activations will occur during the course of their work. The vendor, SEECOM, and the City apologize for any inconvenience to our citizens this may have caused.
