Fire Department responds to Residence Fire

Structure Fire – 308 Valhalla Circle
On August 21, 2017 at 8:50 PM, the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded for a reported fire in a residence at 308 Valhalla Circle with a subject still inside. At 8:53 PM, first arriving Crystal Lake Police officers reported the subject thought to be inside was in fact out of the structure. First fire department units arrived on the scene at 8:56 PM, and reported smoke and flames coming from the residence. Fire crews quickly attacked the fire to prevent it from spreading from the residence.
The fire was deemed under control at 9:07 PM. The fire was contained to the residence, which resulted in a total loss. One resident was transported to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington to be evaluated for smoke inhalation. There were no injuries to any firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire investigators believe the point of origin was near a wall outlet in the living room. The estimated damage to the structure and contents is $250,000.
Additional units from Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District, McHenry Township Fire Protection District, Cary Fire Protection District, and Woodstock Fire Rescue District either assisted at the scene or provided station coverage.
