Edgewater Drainage Improvement

Project Description

The City’s Edgewater Drainage Improvement project will be located at the west end of Crystal Lake, along Edgewater Drive near North Avenue and Kamijima Park. The drainage improvements will include the installation of new storm sewers and rain gardens designed to reduce roadway and parkway flooding in the area during typical rainfall events. This project has been developed as part of the City’s Stormwater Solutions initiative, which focuses on areas that experience repetitive structure and street flooding from surface water runoff. Kamijima Park and Edgewater Drive are located in the FEMA floodplain at or below the base flood elevation of the lake; therefore, relief from flooding in this area will be limited. This area will still experience flooding during large and heavy rainfall events.
