Crystal Lake Police Encourages Parents to get their Child Passenger Safety Seats Checked
The Crystal Lake Police Department in conjunction with Safe Kids McHenry County will host a free child safety seat inspection on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017. This event is from 9:00am to 12:00pm at Pauly Toyota, 1035 South Route 31, Crystal Lake, IL.
Events such as these are designed to increase awareness and the proper use of child safety seats. When used correctly, child safety seats are one of the most important tools to safeguard children when travelling in motor vehicles. Involvement in traffic crashes is a leading cause of death and serious injury to children under the age of 16. Proper use of child safety seats is one of the simplest yet most conscientious ways we as parents and adult caregivers can reduce the likelihood of children being injured or killed in motor vehicle crashes.
Child Passenger Seat Safety technicians will be available to educate and assist parents and caregivers with the correct installation and use of child safety seats in their vehicles. Technicians at the event will be available to answer any questions you may have regarding child passenger safety recommendations.
No registration or appointment is necessary to participate, but parents are asked to bring the following to the event:
The child for which the safety seat will be used for.
The vehicle in which the child safety seat will be installed and the owner’s manual for the vehicle.
The child safety seat to be used.
The user’s guide or owner’s manual that was provided with the child safety seat.
