Responsibilities

The Community Development Department helps the City to grow a vibrant and diverse business community, administer the appropriate City Ordinances to preserve Crystal Lake's character, coordinate current and long-range planning, conduct plan reviews, issue permits, provide inspection services, and ensure the overall safety and well-being of our citizens.

The Department accomplishes these responsibilities through two Divisions: Building and  Planning and Economic Development.
