STRUCTURE FIRE – 1315 Amberwood Dr.

Crystal Lake, IL – The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded to a reported structure fire at 2:26 am. Two occupants and their dog were home at the time the fire started and were able to escape prior to the fire department’s arrival. Smoke detectors in the home activated, alerting the occupants. The first fire unit on scene arrived in 7 minutes and reported smoke and fire coming from the roof in the rear of the structure. The fire originated on the second floor, above the garage, of the two-story, single-family residence and had entered the attic space causing heavy damage to the roof. Fire crews made an aggressive attack and had significantly reduced the main body of fire within the first few minutes of arriving on the scene. The fire was declared under control at 3:13 am.

The home sustained heat, water, and smoke damage. It was declared uninhabitable until repairs could be made. Damage to the structure and contents is estimated at $100,000. There were no injuries to any firefighters or civilians.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation. Crystal Lake Fire Rescue was assisted by several area fire departments through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System. Fire investigators from Crystal Lake Fire Rescue, Crystal Lake Police, Huntley Fire Protection District, and Woodstock Fire Rescue District are conducting the investigation.
