Responsibilities

The Building Division reviews building plans, inspects construction work, provides technical assistance to residents and contractors, and performs property maintenance inspections. 

Codes and Ordinances

The City's Building Codes are technical in nature therefore the Building Division has prepared project guides for common projects and procedures. 

Inspection Scheduling

If you need an inspection, please provide the following information:

• Contact Name and Telephone Number
• Building Permit Name
• Address of Inspection
• Date of Inspection Request
• Desired Inspection Time (Early Morning, Late Morning, or Afternoon)

Building inspections can be scheduled by phone or at City Hall. Inspections may be scheduled no later than 4:00 PM on the business day before the requested time. Please do not send inspection requests via email or voicemail, as there is no guarantee the request will be received. Additionally, inspectors will not take inspection requests in the field. 

Lead Paint and Asbestos Safety 

Many older buildings may possess lead-based paint or asbestos hazards. The Building Division compiled some helpful links, listed on the right-hand column, to help residents understand, and potentially mitigate, these hazards.
