Voter Registration

In order to qualify to vote in McHenry County, you must be a U.S. citizen and a resident at your current McHenry County address for 30 days preceding the next election. Applicants must be 18 years of age on or before the date of the next election. 

Identification Requirements

Two forms of identification are required to vote:

  1. Proof of identify such as your driver's license, state ID card, and/or university photo ID. 
  2. Proof of Illinois residence such as a current utility bill, paycheck, check book or bank statement, and/or a piece a mail. Items brought in to prove Illinois residency must have your name on it. 

Persons born outside of the United States need to bring in proof of Naturalization and/or know the date, place, and court of Naturalization.
