Emergency Preparedness Guide

The Police and Fire Rescue personnel of the City of Crystal Lake have dedicated themselves to the safety and well-being of the citizens of our community. For this reason, we have compiled an Emergency Preparedness Guide to help you prepare for a natural and/or man-made disaster. 

We are fortunate to live in a region with four weather seasons. Four full seasons bring numerous emergency response and preparedness challenges therefore the information contained within our Emergency Preparedness Guide is relative to the region we live in. 

Pandemic Flu

Pandemic influenza is a global outbreak of flu that involves a new flu virus and causes serious human illness. The flu strain that causes the pandemic will spread quickly and easily from person to person because people are unlikely to have immunity against it. Pandemics have occurred three times in the last century.
